LABIAL REDUCTION Many women are bothered by excessive or asymmetrical labial tissue around the vagina. Deformities can also occur as a result of childbirth. This can cause discomfort or embarrassment for some women. Labial reduction surgery is designed to trim the excess labial tissues in order to achieve a natural elliptical contour. The area heals very well and with very little scarring. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia. The patient can go home the same day and can return to work in one to two days. All sutures dissolve within two weeks. The surgery can be done at St. Joseph’s Health Centre or at a private clinic that specializes in cosmetic surgery. The procedure can be combined with a vaginoplasty (vaginal tightening), or other cosmetic procedures. Dr. Levine works closely with a gynecologist in his office, Dr. Sybil Judah, who specializes in this procedure. Dr. Judah will meet personally with the patient for a full in-depth consultation. The procedure and possible complications will be discussed. Dr. Judah will ensure that the patient is a good candidate for the procedure and outline the result that can be expected. Since each patient is unique, the surgery is customized to achieve the best result. If you would like to discuss labial reduction with Dr. Judah, you can arrange a personal consultation with her through Dr. Levine's office. jump to:
